Your journey begins with a scenic drive through the foothills of Mount Agung, passing terraced rice fields and the occasional glimpse of the volcano’s peak. First stop: Taman Ujung Water Palace in Karangasem — a beautifully restored royal complex with lotus ponds, stone pavilions, and a backdrop of the sea.

Continue to Virgin Beach (Pasir Putih), a secluded white sand bay sheltered by cliffs at both ends. The water is calm and clear, perfect for swimming. Traditional warungs along the back of the beach serve fresh grilled fish and cold Bintang — lunch with your toes in the sand.
