Pemuteran Bay Festival — a three-day celebration of the marine biodiversity and cultural heritage of Pemuteran, one of North Bali’s most beautiful coastal villages. The festival highlights the extraordinary coral reef restoration efforts that have made Pemuteran Bay a global model for community-led marine conservation.
Activities include guided snorkelling and diving tours of the famous Biorock reef restoration project, where visitors can see restored coral gardens teeming with marine life. On land, the festival features traditional dance performances, live music, cooking demonstrations using local ingredients, and art exhibitions by North Balinese artists. Environmental workshops cover reef conservation, turtle protection, and sustainable fishing practices.
Visitor tips: Pemuteran is located approximately 2.5 hours from Ngurah Rai Airport. Accommodation ranges from eco-lodges to beachfront resorts. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, snorkelling gear (rental also available), and a waterproof camera. The waters are generally calm, making it ideal for beginner snorkellers. Don’t miss the nearby West Bali National Park and Menjangan Island for world-class diving.
