Lovina Festival — a three-day celebration of North Bali’s culture, nature, and community along the black-sand beaches of Lovina in Buleleng. This annual festival highlights the unique charm of Bali’s north coast, offering a more relaxed and authentic alternative to the island’s crowded southern tourist hubs.
The programme features traditional Balinese dance and music performances on the beachfront, morning dolphin-watching boat tours — Lovina’s signature attraction, where pods of wild dolphins can be seen at sunrise — local food markets serving North Balinese specialties, art fairs showcasing regional crafts, family-friendly activities, and evening concerts. The festival creates a festive atmosphere along Lovina’s main beach strip, with vendors, performers, and community groups all participating.
Visitor tips: Lovina is approximately 2.5 hours from Ngurah Rai Airport. Accommodation ranges from budget guesthouses to boutique resorts along the beach road. The dolphin tours depart at dawn — book the day before. Bring reef-safe sunscreen (the black sand absorbs heat), mosquito repellent, and cash as ATMs are limited. Combine with visits to Gitgit Waterfall, Banjar Hot Springs, and the Brahma Vihara Arama Buddhist monastery.
